What is Lyfify?

Lyfify is a privacy-first collection of apps. Right now that means Cookbook. Chores is planned for later and is not available in this beta.

I've had a lot of fun building this, and I'm excited to finally share it! It's still very early, and there's a lot more I want to add, but Cookbook is far enough along that I'd love for people to try it and tell me what breaks :)

What is Cookbook?

Cookbook is Lyfify's first app. I made it because figuring out what to eat every day stresses me out more than it probably should. Same with keeping track of groceries. I got tired of deciding dinner from scratch and then realizing halfway through cooking that I was missing something.

So Cookbook is my attempt to fix that for myself, and hopefully for you too:

  1. Store your recipes in one place
  2. Slot them into a recurring meal plan
  3. Get a grocery list generated from that plan

Once that's set up, you don't have to rethink the whole week every Sunday. Open Cookbook, see what you're cooking next, and your grocery list is already there. You mostly just buy the food and cook!

Optional AI

AI only runs when you start it. Subscribe on Pricing for Lyfify-hosted AI.

That unlocks:

  • Smart Add: paste recipe text or take a photo, and it drafts the recipe for you. You review it before saving.
  • Smart Fill: let AI draft a meal plan from your own recipes, with your own instructions. Again, you check it before it goes into the plan.

You don't need AI to use Cookbook. It's just there if you want the shortcut :)

Discover

If you've run out of ideas, Discover has a collection of Lyfify recipes you can browse. Save any of them to your own library and edit them however you like.

Privacy and Lyfify

I want Lyfify to feel like a personal app. In practice, it's mostly a frontend that shows your data in a nicer way than a pile of bookmarks and screenshots.

Your recipes, meal plans, and grocery lists live on your device. Signing in syncs them between your devices. At the time that ran through a private folder in your Google Drive and Lyfify kept no copy; since 23 September 2026 it runs through Lyfify Cloud, which does hold a copy, sealed with a key belonging to your account.

What we *do* store (when you sign in or subscribe): your account email, your synced content, and Stripe subscription and usage metadata. Google sign-in is identity only now, so there is no Drive token to keep. When you use hosted AI, the text or image you submit for that action is sent to our API and then to OpenAI for that request only. It is not kept as your library. If you save your own provider key in Settings → Advanced, those calls go from your browser to the AI provider with your key.

If you never log in, we don't know who you are. More detail is on the Privacy page.

What's coming next?

Lyfify is built by one person (me), as a side project, and that probably won't change anytime soon. Updates will come slowly as a result.

The next step is letting people test Cookbook and fixing the issues that show up. Once I'm happy with Cookbook, Chores is what I want to build next: a place to plan who does what around the house, with checklists for each chore, so you can check in in the morning and see what actually needs doing that day. I'll write more about that when there's something to show!

For now, please give Cookbook a try. If you hit a bug, get stuck, or just have a question, email me at [email protected]. I'd really like to hear from you :)
