Ingredient substitutes and recipe editor improvements

Recipes can now carry substitute options on an ingredient line. Think olive oil or butter, chicken stock or vegetable stock. You pick the one you want when you cook. Your grocery list follows that choice, so you buy what you're actually using.

Smart Add, Adapt Recipe, and Estimate Nutrition AIs all understand substitutes now. AI can propose them when it fits, and nutrition estimates use the option you chose.

The recipe editor has also gotten a few layout changes. It's now more compact and easier to navigate.

Default servings on meal plans

When you add a recipe to a plan, Cookbook used to stick with the recipe's own servings. You can now set a default servings amount on the plan itself.

Turn it on in plan setup, pick a number, and new assignments use that size. You can still override a single slot. Smart Fill starts from the same default when the plan has one.

Recipes dock takes less room

The bottom dock on recipes has been redesigned to be more compact and take up significantly less of the screen on mobile.

Feature discovery

A few controls in Cookbook are easy to miss, and it might not be clear what a button does when you tap it. When you first interact with one of these "unclear" features, a short Feature Discovered card appears to explain what it does.

Statistics got an update

Settings → Statistics now has a clearer Activity Snapshot. Cookbook stats sit in one group: recipes saved, meal plans, meals planned, recipes cooked, and groceries checked off. AI stats sit in another: AI functions used.

These numbers live on your device, and sync with the rest of your content when you sign in. They are just for you.
