Push Notifications for the Lyfify App
The installed Lyfify app can now remind you about upcoming meals and prep notes, with notification content encrypted on your device before it leaves the app.

Lyfify can remind you now
The installed Lyfify app can now send push notifications. That means you can get a nudge about what's coming up without keeping Lyfify open in front of you.
This is useful for the small things that are easy to miss: remembering to thaw something, checking what's for dinner, or seeing that a meal is coming up while you're doing something else.
Two kinds of reminders
Meal Reminders tell you about the meals in your plan. Turn on breakfast, lunch, dinner, or any combination, then choose whether the reminder should arrive before the meal, at the meal time, or after it.
Prep Reminders use the prep notes on your meal plan. If tomorrow's recipe says to thaw chicken or soak beans, Lyfify can remind you during the evening so it is not a surprise when you start cooking.
Both types use the meal times on your plan, which you can open with Meal Timeline in Notifications settings, and you can see a preview of upcoming reminders before you leave the page.
How to turn them on
Notifications are delivered by the installed app, not a regular browser tab. If you have not installed Lyfify yet, install it as an app first.
Then open Settings → Notifications, switch notifications on, and allow them when your device asks. You can send a test notification from the same page to make sure everything is working.
After that, open Cookbook Notifications to choose your meal and prep preferences. Tap a notification and Lyfify opens Cookbook for you.
Still private
Notification messages are encrypted on your device before they are sent anywhere. Lyfify's API relays the encrypted message to your browser's push service, but cannot read what the notification says.
Lyfify only schedules the next seven days of reminders. When a reminder is delivered, it is removed shortly afterwards. Turning notifications off removes anything still waiting to be delivered, too.
The device is registered with an anonymous, device-local identifier rather than your Lyfify account. You can read more about what gets stored on the Privacy page.
Give it a try
Install Lyfify as an app, open Notifications settings, and send yourself a test. Then turn on one meal reminder or add a prep note to a meal plan and see how it feels. If something does not work as expected, email me at [email protected].
